Saw this old abandoned house on my trip to Wyoming. Snow on the ground and the old door open. Loved the way the sunlight hit the front of the house. Great mix of cold snow and sunlight.
From a recent trip to Wyoming. Yes, it was cold. Never got above 30 degrees. I wanted to convey the feeling of a cold day but warm sunshine on your face, warming you.
I've been working on doing some painting from a different perspective. I was pleased with how this turned out. There are so many variations in the color of water in a small stream. I wanted to put these variations in but have it be in the background as well. The reeds were kinda fun to paint.
I was curious to see if I could paint from a vertical angle and give the painting some dimension. The angle of the light helped give this effect.

"Quiet Sentinels"
Oil on Linen
11 X 14"
$475
This piece is from a plein air study that I did on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon last June. I went to the Grand Canyon for a few days of camping and painting. This is late afternoon light, near Maricopa Point.
This piece started as a study that I painted at the Lost Dog Wash in Scottsdale. I finished the final painting as a Demo while I was at TheStore, the art gallery at Mesa Art Center.
I love the early morning light. The day started out hot and by 9:00 am it was too hot to continue to paint outside.
